“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular.” ― C.G. Jung
The Inner Triangle (IT) is an apparently complex procedure, but once you get familiar with it, you will see how simple and efficient it is.
It is designed primarily for solving chronic problems (i.e. depression, constant stress, repetitive outbursts of anger, chronic fears, illnesses, issues within family or at job, long-lasting conflicts with certain people, etc.), although its area of application could be much wider, depending on one’s creativity.
The Inner Triangle is based on the concepts of Parts of Personality and Chain of Goals. To begin, you must take the problem you are dealing with and consider it a separate part of your character, like a half-conscious entity. By defining it as a unique and distinct being (either within your own psyche or outside of it), you are pulling it out of the “sea of the unconscious.” Then, you are able to start a sort of communication with it, in order to get some important information related to the problem. Finally, you find the opposite part in your mind and treat it in the same way as the first.
During the IT process, by going up the chain of goals of the parts, you are not erasing any of the entities: you are reintegrating them. They may merge together and thus end the process, or remain separate, but have been brought up to their highest states of being, either way having been reintegrated into the unity of your being.
First, you become aware of your sense of I, the Temporary I, right there in the moment (more on how to find the Temporary I you can find here).
Then, consider your problem as the first polarity. Its opposite would be the second polarity (as shown in figure below).

First, you become aware of your sense of I, the Temporary I, right there in the moment (more on how to find the Temporary I you can find here).
Then, consider your problem as the first polarity. Its opposite would be the second polarity (as shown in figure below).
Treat these polarities as conscious, or half-conscious entities. You will need to communicate with them in order to find out their goals and aversions, step-by-step. You will “persuade” them that those goals have been fulfilled and that they are safe from their aversions, or that the aversions will never manifest. Goals and aversions are in this way fulfilled and secured.
After that, in order to completely dissolve the goals and aversions of the polarities, you identify with them and do the Dissolving technique (DTI) on them. In this way, one layer of the problem has been solved and space for the next circle of entities’ goals and aversions has been released.
By asking the polarities for their next goal or aversion and releasing them in the same way, you will gradually cleanse both polarities. After each circle of questions and answers (as shown symbolically in figure below) they will get closer to each other, bringing them to their highest (initial) state and often “forcing” them to merge completely in the end.

Now, before dealing with the polarities in each circle, you must bring your attention to your I here and now, apart from the polarities, and cleanse it using the DTI. The process will bring your I here and now to its highest state of being, while merging with the above mentioned polarities.
The Procedure
Here we will delve into a more detailed explanation of the Inner Triangle technique (as symbolically shown here). You can also download a blank worksheet that will make your practice a lot easier, at this address.
Preparation:
1. Sit up straight, eyes closed or half-open (whatever is more suitable for you). Relax.
2. Determine the location of your Temporary I at this moment. Determine where exactly this Temporary I is located; write down the answer.
3. Define the first polarity--usually your unwanted, unpleasant state:
4. Define your second polarity--a state opposite to the first polarity (usually a desired or pleasant one):
Execution:
(First circle)
5. Return to your I, here and now, from step 2. Do you have any thought, emotion or sensation? Write down the answer. If you do, feel again your Temporary I from which vantage point you are experiencing that content. If you do not, the Temporary I will probably be somewhere inside your being. Do the Dissolving technique (DTI), either way.
6. Now focus on your first polarity.
7. Now focus on your second polarity.
(Next circle)
8. Return your attention again to your I, here and now, from step 2. Check if you have any thought, emotion or sensation and write down the answer. Do the Dissolving technique (DTI).
9. Focus on your first polarity.
10. Focus on your second polarity.
11. Repeat the whole circle (one or more times).
You will have to repeat the whole circle, again and again, as long as you have any content (thoughts, emotions, sensations) at any step.
After each step, the answers from both polarities will be getting more and more positive. Also, you will probably notice that the polarities are apparently getting closer to each other, closer to your heart, more and more transparent and/or brighter.
12. Merge/integrate the polarities.
At the end of the procedure, when you have no more answers for the polarities and find yourself in one of the highest states (Love, Peace, Joy, Nothingness), the polarities could spontaneously merge. If that doesn’t happen, ask both polarities to merge.
If nothing happens again, it simply means that these entities are not mutual polarities at all. They were not connected in that way, however, you did succeed in guiding them to their highest state and integrating them into your personality.
Whether they merged or not, ask them to fill up and overwhelm your body and your whole being with their divine energy.
Note: There is also an alternative approach if you are having issues with establishing effective communication with your polarities during the IT work.
In that case, you just skip the communication part and enter both polarities at the very beginning of the process. You identify (become) the first polarity and then the second, rather than posing the questions to them. You won’t get the answers through dialog with the polarities, you do it on your own, from the points of view of these polarities. Instead of posing a question to that entity “outside of you,” you just ask yourself as that entity questions like this: “What is my goal at this moment?” and do the Dissolving technique (DTI) on the answer that you subsequently become aware of.
Everything else is pretty much the same. We could call this variation “Alternative Inner Triangle (AIT) Technique.”
[i] This is not particularly something to search a lot for. Just try to find what you feel is the opposite to the current part. If it is an emotion, use the Plutchik’s wheel, described in Inner Peace, Outer Success, Part III, section “Emotions.” You can even get a simple label for that part, for example “The calm part of me.” However, if you still feel unable to find the opposite polarity or right label for it, you can use Manual Muscle Testing (MMT, also described in Inner Peace, Outer Success, part II) for clarifying that.

3. Define the first polarity--usually your unwanted, unpleasant state:
- (a) Name it and write that down.
- (b) It is a part of you, no matter how it looks or where it is located—inside or outside of you. You will communicate with it. Tell your subconscious to make this part of your personality distinct and mature for the purposes of clear communication.
- (c) Ask yourself: If that polarity had distinct qualities, how would it be represented? Determine its qualities, such as shape, size, color, brightness, texture, perhaps even age, sound, or symbol. Anything you see or feel. Determine also where it is located. Write everything down.
- (d) Greet it, as you would greet any person you respect.
4. Define your second polarity--a state opposite to the first polarity (usually a desired or pleasant one):
- (a) Ask yourself: “Is there a part of me that is opposite to the (first polarity)?”[i] Name that polarity; write down the name.
- (b) Tell your subconscious to make this part of your personality distinct and mature for the purposes of clear communication with it.
- (c) Determine its qualities—how it looks like (shape, size, color, brightness, etc.), perhaps its age and anything else you see or feel. Determine where it is located. Write everything down.

6. Now focus on your first polarity.
- (a) (Communication with polarity) Look at it from here and now. Ask it two questions:
- “What do you want at this moment?” Write down the answer. Tell the polarity: “Your goal has just been fulfilled!” Feel your statement as true.
- “What would you like to avoid at this moment?” Write down the answer. Tell the polarity: “You have been completely secured and freed from this aversion, from now on!” Feel your statement as true.
- (b) (Identification with polarity) Enter the polarity. Identify with it. Feel its being.
- From its point of view, feel its goal (the answer to first question). As that entity, do the Dissolving technique on the goal (answer).
- From its point of view, feel its aversion (the answer to second question). As that entity, do the Dissolving technique on the aversion (answer).

- (a) (Communication with polarity) Look at it from here and now. Ask it two questions:
- “Now that you have fulfilled your previous goal, what do you want at this moment, which is even more valuable?” Write down the answer as its second goal. Tell the polarity: “This goal has also been fulfilled!” Feel your statement as true.
- “Now, since you have been secured and freed from your previous aversion, forever on, is there something which is even more important that you would like to avoid at this moment?” Write down the answer. Tell the polarity: “You are completely secure and free from this aversion too, from now on!” Feel your statement as true.
- (b) (Identification with polarity) Enter the polarity. Identify with it. Feel its being.
