Replacing Beliefs
The Replacing Beliefs (RB) technique is simple, and basically involves applying the DTI+ to a negative belief. But before that, we recommend printing out and reading the list of most common beliefs (you can download it here). Circle those that you think are yours as well. Add other beliefs you think are characteristic for you. This will enable you to make your individual list of limiting/defeating (negative) beliefs.
If you are not sure whether you have a particular belief or not, just say it aloud to yourself and try to feel it. If you have some emotional feedback, either pleasant or unpleasant, you definitely have that belief.
In your search for hidden beliefs, for example, you may also ask yourself: “What is being selfish for me?” Is it to have a lot of money? Is it selfish to love yourself? Or to take time for yourself? Each “Yes,” backed with a sort of emotional feedback, means a serious self-defeating belief! If you really believe that it’s selfish to love yourself, then your life is full of suffering. You are repeatedly punishing yourself on an unconscious level, and on a conscious level are wondering why that’s happening to you again and again.
It is similar to a negative belief about money or about precious time just for yourself. That’s the case with many other self-defeating beliefs and other detrimental aspects of your subconscious mind.
After creating your individual list, modify it by adding an opposite, positive belief next to each negative one in order to make pairs of opposite beliefs.
Once you have done that, you will be able to do the DTI+ on each negative belief from the whole list. If possible, pass through the list several times, as long as you feel any traces of negative beliefs in your psyche. For this purpose, you have at your disposal the RB Worksheet which can be downloaded from the link here.
Remember that you will have to be persistent and patient in this work. Beliefs are neither easily removable nor changeable because they are sort of mental and emotional habits. That’s why it’s important to go through the list as many times as possible.
Here you can find two parts of a real life worksheet from a very extensive RB process done by one of our core team members, Sean.
